A great night of music is planned!
For the past 7 years, Alexander Mitchell (fiddle/mandolin/voice), Michael G. Ronstadt (cello/guitar/voice), and Ralph Gordon (bass/cello) have been performing each July at the Common Ground On The Hill Music Festival. All three of them are true genre-bending multi-instrumentalists, who's diverse backgrounds span through and beyond the unexpected. With these three, you will hear a delightful presentation of traditional folk music and original tunes presented primarily as a fiddle, cello, and bass trio. Sprinkled throughout their performances are tastes of Klezmer, Appalachian, bluegrass, celtic, traditional roots and Americana, swing, and classical. Ralph's, "…playing is more sophisticated and technically accomplished than the next 10 string players of any sort and he uses his instruments to subtly ground, stabilize, and inspire the rest of the ensemble as they pursue their experimentations"(Charleston Post Courier). The Tucson Citizen noted Michael's “…amazing command of the typical and exotic sounds of the cello, a true virtuoso and a man of instinctive musicality." In addition to touring internationally with his trio, Ronstadt Generations, he has performed on stage with David Bromberg, Linda Ronstadt, Muriel Anderson, and Craig Bickhardt. Just a few of Alexander's noteworthy career highlights are: a national tour of Woodie Guthrie's American Song with the Missouri Repertory Theatre, played for and appeared in Ted Turner's movie, "Gettysburg", The Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center, Lisner Auditorium for the "Revels", the Birchmere, Weinberg Center and the Strathmore.
